Description

Quicksilver Amusements and the left-hand part of M. Kirk's Butcher's Shop is a building located on Woolpack Alley in Wolverhampton. It dates from the early 18th century and was originally a house, now serving as shops and an office. The exterior is finished in stucco with a tiled roof and has two storeys, featuring a five-window range, along with a later three-storey bay to the left.

The building has a cornice above the ground floor and a top entablature with a deep frieze and quoins. The first bay projects forward beneath the cornice, and there is a coped gable at the left end. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front with an entrance to the left. The sixth bay features a wide window with a frieze and a consoled cornice, along with a 19th-century shop front that has an inserted 20th-century casement.

On the first floor, there is a 16-pane sash window with horns in the first bay, and an attic casement window that cuts through the cornice. The other windows have fielded-panelled keystones, with the second to fourth bays featuring 12-pane sashes. The fifth bay window is blocked, while the sixth bay window has been enlarged and fitted with a casement. The rear of the building has undergone later alterations and additions. The interior may contain features of interest, but these were not visible at the time of the survey.
