Description
4 and 5 King Street are two houses that have been converted into shops, dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed of brick with stucco dressings and feature a tiled roof. The buildings stand three storeys high and have a four-window range with a top cornice. The windows are fitted with 20th-century sashes; all except those on the second floor have rusticated wedge lintels. The ground floor includes a 16-pane sash window in the second bay, while the first floor has 12-pane sashes and the second floor has 6-pane sashes. The entrance in the first bay features a similar lintel and a half-glazed 20th-century door. The third and fourth bays have a 20th-century shop front with panelled pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice, along with a small-paned window and a half-glazed door. A 20th-century wall-mounted lantern with a wrought-iron bracket is also present. This building is part of a row of Georgian houses on King Street, which were constructed after 1751.
