Description
No. 6 King Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations since then. The building features stucco over brick and has a tiled roof with a double-depth plan. It stands three storeys high and has a five-window range. The first bay is wider and has a top cornice. The windows are adorned with rusticated wedge lintels: the ground floor has a 16-pane sash window in the first bay, the first floor has 12-pane sashes, and the second storey has a 6-pane sash in the first bay, while the rest are 9-pane sashes. There are also 20th-century windows inserted at the left end of all floors, with the ground floor window replacing a carriage entrance. The second to fifth bays of the ground floor feature a 20th-century double-fronted shop front with paired round-headed lights. Additionally, there is a 20th-century wall-mounted lantern with a wrought-iron bracket. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of a row of Georgian houses in King Street, which were constructed after 1751.
