Description
No. 2 King Street is a former public house, now a shop, located in Wolverhampton. It dates from the early 19th century, with possible elements from the 18th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a tiled roof with a brick chimney stack. It stands three stories tall and has a two-window range, topped with a coved cornice.
On the ground floor, there is a 16-pane sash window set in an architrave alongside a 20th-century small-paned bow window. The first floor features segmental-headed windows with 8-pane sashes, while the second floor has 4-pane sashes, all of which include horns. The central entrance is accentuated by a decorative overlight with glazing bars and a six-panel door, which is accessed by three steps with iron handrails. A 20th-century half-round canopy is supported on consoles above the entrance. The left end of the roof is hipped, and there is a large cross-axial chimney stack.
Inside, the first-floor beams are adorned with cornicing.
