Description

Brannigans is a public house located on North Street in Wolverhampton, dating from around 1850. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick and features a slate roof. It stands three stories tall and has a three-window range with a canted corner, as well as an additional three-window range to the left.

The ground floor is characterized by channelled rustication and is topped with a cornice, along with a balustrade above. Quoin strips are present on both the first and second floors. The ground floor has large 20th-century windows, while the first floor features round-headed windows with moulded architraves and cornices, adorned with scrolled cresting above. The second floor has windows set in eared and shouldered architraves, with four-pane horned sashes. The entrance is covered by a 20th-century hood.

The canted corner and the three-window range to the left return have similar architectural treatments, including a balustrade with panel and flanking scrolls. The three-window range to the right has ground floor windows that match the rest of the building, with a rendered elevation treatment. The first and second floors have sill courses and architraved windows, with those on the first floor featuring friezes and consoled cornices.

At the left end of the left return, there is a two-storey, five-bay range with ground floor treatment consistent with the rest of the building and architraved first floor windows that have 20th-century casements. A lantern on an iron overthrow is positioned at the corner. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
