Description

These shops at 9 and 10 St Peter's Street date from the 18th and 19th centuries. They are constructed of brick with a parapetted roof. The building is three storeys high, with a cellar, and has a three-window front. The windows are tripartite sashes, with 2/2 panes on the ground floor, 6/6 panes on the first and second floors, and 2/2 panes above. The windows are set within stucco surrounds and topped by moulded pediments resting on enriched consoles. A continuous sillband and moulded stucco architraves extend across the upper floors. The parapet was restored in the 20th century. The ground floor has two 20th-century shop fronts, and a round-headed arch in rusticated stucco is located on the right-hand side. In the cellar beneath No.10, part of the structure dates back to the 15th century and features a wide, four-centred vault.
