Description

Nos 140 and 142 on Bristol Road are a pair of semi-detached villas built around 1840. They are two stories high and made of stucco, featuring three bays each, designed symmetrically under a hipped slate roof. The villas have flanking and central chimneys that are corniced. The building has a plinth, with the ground floor channelled up to the first floor sill band, and a bed mould at the flat eaves. The first floor has architrave framed glazing bar sash windows. The ground floor of No 140 retains its original glazing bar sashes with cornices on consoles, while No 142 has later 19th-century canted bay windows with cornices. The doorways are framed by round-headed architrave surrounds, featuring Soanian incised panelled pilasters, incised door head panels, and thin cornices, with fanlights above. No 142 also has coach house doors set in a screen wall to the right, which includes a cornice and blocking course, with a later raised panel in the center inscribed "Wilton House."
