Description

This is an 1850s detached villa located on Sir Harry’s Road in Edgbaston. The house is constructed of red brick with Italianate stucco detailing. It has two storeys and a three-bay front.

The front of the building features a plinth and rusticated quoins. A dentil string sits beneath the eaves of the slate roof, which projects forward over the two-storey canted bay on the left. Corniced chimney stacks flank the building. The canted bay has sash windows with pilasters, and a panelled frieze. The central ground floor window is framed by panelled strips with coupled, guttaed consoles supporting a segmental pediment. A similar design is found on the right-hand ground floor window, but with a cornice instead of a pediment. The central and right-hand first floor windows have architrave surrounds. All windows are sash windows with marginal glazing.

The central doorway is framed by a panelled pilaster strip, with consoles to a segmental pediment set against channelled stuccowork, the cornice moulding returned as capping.
