Description

BRISTOL ROAD 1. 5104 (east side) Edgbaston B5 No 98 SP 0684 NE/51/2 II GV 2. Circa 1840-50 substantial Calthorpe Estate villa with attendant coach house. Two storeys, stucco faced, 5 bays. Hipped slate roof with boxed flat eaves. Corniced stucco chimneys. Ground floor chanelled up to first floor sill band. Plain sash windows to first floor but ground floor retains marginal glazed sashes with cornices on acanthus leaf consoles. Enclosed Tuscan pilastered porch with round arched side lights: oak wreaths to frieze, moulded cornice and blocking course the returns to wall capped by anthemion acroteria. The ground floor is extended to right hand as screen to coach house. Side door and segmental arched coach house doors, the chanelling struck as voussoirs to the arch.
