Description
22 Wheeley's Road is a Grade II listed villa built around 1840. This two-storey, three-bay stucco villa features a right-hand canted bay, which is a slightly later alteration. The building has a hipped slate roof with flat eaves and brick chimney stacks topped with ornamental pots.
The villa has a plinth and a first-floor sill band that is broken forward over the canted bay, which has an additional string course above the ground floor. The canted bay contains later 19th-century glazing in the sash windows, protected by wrought iron flower guards. The other windows are revealed glazing bar sashes, framed by architrave surrounds on the first floor to the centre and left.
The central entrance is round-arched and approached by two steps. It features a shallow reveal with flattened reeded columns that support a reeded arch. The panelled reveals, soffit, and door include a fanlight with a marginal and radial glazing pattern. To the left, there is a screen wall with a coach house, which has coping that continues from the first-floor sill band and flat-arched doors set within four-centred arch recesses. A link wall to the right includes a side entrance.
