Description

This is an 18th-century red brick house located on Wheely’s Road in Edgbaston. It is a two-storey building with a symmetrical three-bay front, complemented by a matching fourth bay added later to the south end. The roof is slate, with a low pitch, overhanging eaves, and rebuilt chimney stacks. The front features four-by-four pane sash windows, block sills, and reeded stucco heads, each flanked by small leaf consoles supporting thin cornices. The doorway is set within a rubbed brick arched entrance, featuring stucco imposts and inset, flattened, slender Tuscan columns supporting an entablature. Above the door is a fanlight with a looped leaded glazing pattern of a marginal and radial design. The doorway has panelled reveals and a soffit, and the door itself is made up of six fielded panels, and is approached by two steps.
