Description

Nos. 6 and 7, Yew Tree Road are a pair of detached villas dating from the 1830s and 1840s. They are built of rendered stucco with channelled details to the ground floor and a porch. A sill band marks the first-floor level. The roofs are covered with slate tiles, featuring overhanging eaves with decorative arcaded valances. Red brick chimneys are prominent. No. 6 retains its original windows, which are revealed sash windows with three vertical panes. The ground floor windows of No. 7 were replaced in the 1860s and 1870s with pent roofed canted bays. Both properties originally had flat-roofed porches; No. 7's porch retains incised pilasters and an entablature, while the frame of No. 6's porch has been altered. The group value of these buildings lies in their cohesive design and contribution to the historic streetscape.
