Description
Nos 2 and 3 Yew Tree Road are a pair of semi-detached houses built between 1830 and 1840. These two-storey homes are constructed from red brick and each features three bays with a blind center above the doorway. They have a slate roof with overhanging eaves and both flanking and central brick chimneys.
The first-floor windows are revealed glazing bar sashes, with No 2 having marginal glazing. Both houses have reeded stucco heads with acanthus leaf consoles supporting thin cornices. The ground floor windows at No 2 have been replaced by canted bay windows from around 1860, which are pilastered and feature a fret design on the scalloped slate pent roofs. In contrast, No 3 has late 19th-century rectangular bay windows with moulded cornices.
The doorways are of the Lees's Crescent type, featuring six-panel doors set in panelled reveals. These doors are flanked by slender fluted, flattened columns that support an entablature beneath fanlights with a marginal and looped radial glazing pattern. This is all contained within a brick reveal with a rubbed brick arch. Additionally, No 3 has a trellis hood on brackets added around 1850.
