Description
Nos 17 and 18 Yew Tree Road are a pair of semi-detached Italianate houses built around 1850. They are two storeys high and each has two bays, creating a symmetrical appearance. The houses feature a rusticated plinth and faceted quoins that extend to the first floor sill course. There is a deep frieze on a string and bed mould that leads to the flat eaves. The hipped slate roof is topped with corniced stucco chimneys that have fielded panels.
On the first floor, there are sash windows framed in eared architraves. Each house has a tripartite ground floor window supported by pilasters and an entablature. The doorways are coupled and accessed by a flight of steps, each featuring plain Roman Doric columns that support an entablature with a modillion cornice. The doorways also have panelled reveals, soffits, doors, and rectangular fanlights.
