Description
32 George Road is a Grade II listed detached villa built around 1820. This two-storey building features a nearly symmetrical three-bay front and has a projecting coach house on the right side. The villa is constructed of stucco and has a plinth, with a modillion cornice that runs along the overhanging eaves of the hipped slate roof. The chimney stacks have been altered. The windows are plain revealed glazing bar sashes, except for the window to the right of the doorway, which is set in a segmental arched panel.
The entrance is arched and recessed, featuring fluted Tuscan columns that support a shallow modillion cornice above the doorhead and fanlight, which has a radial glazing pattern. The entrance door is a six-panel design. The garden front is wider and also has glazing bar sashes, but it includes a projecting two-storey wing from around 1840 that ends in a canted bay. The modillion cornice continues from the main block to this wing. There is a lean-to garden porch that features chamfered timber details dating from around 1860.
