Description

28 George Road is a substantial two-storey red brick villa built around 1820, located in Edgbaston. The building features a symmetrical three-bay front with a painted stone shallow plinth and a moulded modillion eaves cornice that returns to the sides. The gable end roof is covered with slate, and there are very large rectangular red brick chimney stacks with stucco copings and ornamental pots positioned on the gable ends.

The ground and first floor windows are identical, featuring painted stone block sills and flat gauged arches, with intact glazing bars on the sashes. There is a later circular window to the left of the doorway. The round arched entrance is recessed and has a gauged brick outer arch and an inner moulded arch, along with a fanlight that has patterned glazing bars and a panelled door with reveals and soffit.

The south gable end has one glazing bar sash window on each floor, while the north gable end features a circular window with radiating glazing bars. The rear garden elevation mirrors the front with first floor windows and the same modillion eaves cornice, plus a fourth window on the lower two-storey elevation of the service wing.
