Description
GEORGE ROAD 1. 5104 Edgbaston B15 No 35 (Original house and service coach-house wings at The Skin Hospital) SP 0585 NE 40/37 II GV 2. C1830-40 substantial Grecian villa of 2 storeys; 5 bays, stucco faced and with concave quadrant walls enclosing forecourt carriage sweep. The centre bay of front is slightly recessed and the stepped frieze is carried in under the flat eaves of the hipped slate roof; corniced stucco chimneys. All windows have architrave surrounds, the central one on first floor with cornice on consoles; plate glass sashes. The doorway is flanked by engaged columns with Grecian Corinthian capitals supporting deep entablature, the cornice overlapping the edges of recess, blocking course above. Set back service wing to left with 2 architrave framed windows. First floor lodge across yard to link with 2 storey painted brick coach house stable range extended out to street frontage by single storey coach house frontage with pediment gable to road and flanking gate piers to yard entrance.
