Description

This is an 1840s two-story, three-bay stucco house with a one-bay extension, located in Edgbaston. The front features a channelled ground floor rising from a plinth to a projecting plat band. Slender quoin pilasters, adorned with rosette studs, extend up to a bed mould beneath the frieze. The frieze incorporates consoles supporting the flat eaves of the gable-ended slate roof. Brick chimneys feature ornamental pots. The first-floor windows are set within architraves with cornices resting on consoles, with a pediment over the central window. Around 1860, the ground-floor windows were replaced with canted bay windows featuring large, bracketed cornices. A round-headed doorway, with panelled reveals, contains a six-panel door with a fanlight, framed by pilaster strips and scrolled, decorated consoles supporting an entablature. The extension has corniced architrave windows on both floors and a pedimented side door.
