Description

No. 6 Charlotte Road is a three-storey town home built around 1845, featuring a stucco facade and a three-bay front adorned with elaborate Grecian details. The ground floor is channelled and extends over quoin pilasters, leading up to a string course below the first floor. The upper floors are flanked by large quoin pilasters with incised Soanian panels. There is a string course at the second floor and a bed mould at the frieze. The roof has a low pitch covered with slate and flat boxed eaves, with corniced stucco chimneys on either side.

The windows retain their original glazing bar sashes set in panelled strip frames, with ornate console brackets of various designs supporting the bed mould on the second floor and moulded cornices on the first floor. The sills are moulded and rest on small consoles. The right side of the ground floor features a canted bay with similar pilaster strip and console details, topped with a partial slate roof.

The entrance includes a Soanian plaster strip doorway with oversized acanthus consoles at the frieze, a projecting cornice with a pediment blocking course, and diamond faceted stops. The door is a four-panel design with a fanlight that has curved corners. To the right, a brick wall connects the coach house, which has a four-centred arch door and an end pediment parapet.
