Description
This is a villa dating from circa 1830-40, originally stucco faced. It has two storeys and a three-bay front. The original entrance was to the flank on Charlotte Road, but this has been replaced by a modern entrance to the rear. To the left is a slightly later, pedimented link bay, one window wide, connecting to No. 26, with a door leading to an access passage at ground-floor level. The main front exhibits slender quoin pilasters, a plinth, and ground and first floor sill bands. It has flat boxed eaves to a low-pitch gable end slate roof with tall brick flanking chimneys. The windows are glazing bar sash windows within architrave surrounds; the central ground floor window is distinguished by a moulded cornice on consoles. The stucco gable end facing Charlotte Road features an original doorway, now altered into a window, but retaining the frame of slender engaged Tuscan columns supporting an entablature and a fanlight with intersecting glazing bars. First and attic floor windows are centrally positioned above the former doorway, also with architrave surrounds and cornices. The recessed link with No. 26 is part of No 25A, with the exception of a small, single window section to the top floor rear, which is part of No 26.
