Description

This is a group of three 1840s stucco villas, situated close together on Wellington Road. They are relatively small in scale, each with a symmetrical three-bay front. Short screen walls connect the properties through passages between them.

Originally, the villas were identical. They have a plinth, and the ground floor stucco is channelled to create the impression of a stone facing, rising to a still course. Moulded detailing defines the shallow boxed eaves. The roofs are slate of a low pitch, with stucco chimney stacks. The sash windows retain their glazing bars in number 21; numbers 22 and 23 have shallow aprons and inset sills on the first floor.

Around 1870, two-storey canted bay windows were added to the left-hand bays of numbers 22 and 23. These feature rusticated pilasters on the ground floor with a continuous sill course and eaves line.

All three properties have a projecting doorway with a wide, moulded frame adorned with rosettes. The doorways have a moulded cornice and a blocking course, with steps leading up to a panelled door. Above the door is a fanlight with a pattern of linked oval glazing.

Number 25 has a narrow two-storey coach house on its south side, featuring an upswept parapet. This links to the coach house of number 24.
