Description

No. 12 Regent Street is a house that has been converted into a shop with a flat, built between 1818 and 1836, with later additions and alterations including a rear extension. The building is made of reddish-brown brick, featuring painted stucco facades on the front and side, topped with a Welsh slate roof.

It stands three storeys tall and has two first-floor windows. The first floor has 6/6 sash windows, while the second floor features 3/3 sash windows, all set in plain reveals with sills. The building has a cornice, a low parapet, and copings. There are two entrances on the right side, leading up four steps to a part-glazed, four-panel door with an overlight that has glazing bars, as well as a part-glazed shop door. To the right, there is a canted bay with plate-glass windows supported by a fluted Corinthian column, and it has a dentil frieze and cornice. An end stack is present, and on the left return, there are three 6/6 sash windows.

The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Regent Street was first known as Cross Street and was laid out between 1808 and 1814, with the first buildings in a terrace development dating from 1814.
