Description

No. 23 Dale Street is a house that has been converted into offices, built around 1832 with later additions and alterations. It features pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco on the front facade and has a concealed roof. The building has three storeys and three first-floor windows, with the left side being deeply recessed. Designed in a Late Classical style, the first floor includes a band that supports two Ionic pilasters at the ends. There are two 6/6 sash windows with plain reveals and moulded surrounds on the first and second floors. In the recess, there is an 8/8 sash window with plain reveals and a sill on both the first and second floors. The ground floor has an off-centre entrance with a four-panel door and overlight, set within a Tuscan pilastered surround, frieze, and cornice. To the left, there is a 20th-century door and a 2/2 sash window, both with plain reveals, a moulded surround, and a sill. The main block features a frieze and cornice, with a blocking course and copings throughout. The building has concealed stacks. The interior has not been inspected. Dale Street was laid out around 1832, and the east side was built by 1834.
