Description

Number 19 and attached railings is a house, built around 1832, and later altered. It is now used as flats. The house is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with a painted stucco front facade, and has a concealed roof. It features a cast-iron verandah and railings.

The building is three storeys high with a basement, and has three windows on the first floor. The left bay projects to its full height. The ground floor is rusticated. The left-hand entrance has a part-glazed door with sidelights and a divided overlight. The ground floor also has two single-pane sash windows in plain reveals with sills. The first floor has a single-pane sash window, then two ten-pane French windows in plain reveals. The second floor has a single-pane sash window and two six-pane sash windows, also in plain reveals with sills. The basement has a part-glazed door and two single-pane sash windows, as well as a casement window, all in plain reveals with sills. A blocking course, copings, and end stacks are present. The first floor has a continuous verandah with a double-rod-and-anthemion motif balustrade. The interior was not inspected.

Attached to the building are lancet area railings with a gate and to the sides of the steps. Dale Street was laid out around 1832, and the east side was built by 1834.
