Description

Number 7 is a house now converted into flats, built around 1832 with later additions and alterations. It features reddish-brown brick with a painted stucco front facade, a concealed roof, and cast-iron verandah and railings.

The building has three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with three windows on the first floor. The ground floor showcases horizontal rustication. The entrance is on the left, accessed by five steps leading to a part-glazed door flanked by pilaster strips and sidelights, topped with a blind segmental overlight. A tripartite window consists of two 2/2 sashes flanking a 1/1 sash, all with plain reveals and sills.

On the first floor, there are French windows with eight panes and margin-lights, set within a double-chamfered surround. The second floor features three 6/6 sash windows, also with plain reveals and sills. The basement includes a part-glazed board door, a 5/6 sash window, and a 6/6 sash window, all with plain reveals and sills. The building is adorned with a frieze, cornice, and blocking course.

The first floor has a continuous verandah supported by double-stick struts with an anthemion motif and a matching balustrade. The interior is reputed to have an ornate cast-iron fireplace.

The property also includes lancet area railings and railings on the sides of the steps. Historically, Dale Street was laid out around 1832, with the east side constructed by 1834.
