Description
Number 3 and attached railings is a house, now converted into flats, built around 1832, with later additions and alterations. The exterior is constructed of reddish-brown brick in an English Garden Wall bond, with a painted stucco front facade. The roof is concealed, and there is a cast-iron balcony and railings.
The house is three storeys high with a basement, and features a full-height bay window to the right. It has four first-floor windows arranged in a 1:3 pattern. The ground floor entrance has a four-panel door with sidelights and overlight in a roll-moulded surround. Casement windows are found within chamfered surrounds in the bay, with a central mullion. The first floor also has casement windows, those in the bay being within double-chamfered, elliptically-arched surrounds. The building features a frieze, cornice, copings and end and front stacks. The basement has a glazed door and windows. A continuous first-floor balcony has a figure-of-eight-and-circle balustrade.
The interior was not inspected.
The area railings, which include a gate, have bars with fleur-de-lys finials.
Dale Street was laid out around 1832 and the east side was constructed by 1834.
