15, St Mary'S Road

No. 15 St Mary's Road is a former vicarage to St Mary's Church, now a house, built between 1838 and 1850 with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond and features a Welsh slate roof along with an ashlar and cast-iron verandah. It has a central hallway plan and stands two storeys tall with three first-floor windows. The exterior includes quoins and six roll-edged steps leading to the central entrance, which consists of a six-panel door flanked by pilaster strips and side-lights, topped with a frieze and overlight with glazing bars. There are two bay windows with plate-glass fixed lights, and on the first floor, there are 1/1 sash windows with margin-lights, sills, and flat rusticated arches with raised keystones. The building is adorned with a frieze, dentil cornice, and a blocking course, along with tall end stacks that have cornices. The ground floor features a continuous verandah with scroll motifs on the posts. The interior has not been inspected. This property forms an architectural group with Nos 17A and 17.
