Description

The Hermitage Rest Home, formerly St Mary’s Vicarage, is a house dating from approximately 1820 to 1830. It is constructed of grey gault brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a hipped slate roof and deep boarded eaves. The house has a double pile plan and two storeys, presented as a double-fronted facade. It features hung sash windows with flat frames, painted white and including two windows with twenty panes. The doorway has an original doorcase of plain pilasters and a flush panelled door, alongside a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars. The doorway is flanked by two canted bays, which are surmounted by early 19th-century cast iron balustrades.
