Description
No 17 Market Street is a house and shops dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with late 19th century shop fronts. The building features a rubblestone front wall that is rendered, and it has a steeply pitched roof currently covered with cement tiles. There is a red brick ridge stack, although the upper courses have been removed. The structure is two storeys high and includes one three-light casement window on the first floor. The two shop fronts consist of one from the late 19th century or early 20th century, which has plain pilasters and a frieze flanking the door and window. The right-hand gable end wall contains an original late 17th century ovolo mullion window opening, which is now blocked.
