Description

A house, likely dating from the early 17th century, now used as a house and shops. The building is timber-framed and has been plaster-rendered, with a hipped reed thatch roof that has coved eaves and a gault brick ridge stack. Originally it was jettied towards the Market Street end. The first floor has three flush frame hung sash windows, each with twelve panes. There are three 20th-century shop fronts at ground floor, however, the elevation facing Market Street displays a small, 19th-century canted bay, which is now blocked. Inside, panelling from around 1730 covers two walls of a central room, and some reset panelling is found in a room above. The timber framing itself is not visible. There is no internal access to the roof. The building is linked to No. 1 Market Street.
