Description

Numbers 15 and 17 are a pair of houses, now converted into flats, built between 1818 and 1828. They are constructed of reddish-brown brick with stucco facades; the front is painted while the right side remains unpainted. The buildings feature a concealed roof and are complemented by cast-iron railings and a balcony.

The exterior consists of four storeys with a basement and three first-floor windows. Each house has a central entrance with five roll-edged steps leading to part-glazed, panelled doors set within a Doric porch supported by two outer pillars and two fluted columns, along with a frieze and cornice. The windows on the ground, first, and second floors are 6/6 sashes in moulded surrounds, with the central openings on the first and second floors being blind. There is a continuous sill band on the second floor and a cornice above it. The third floor has 3/6 sashes with blind openings at the centre of each house, all in tooled architraves, topped with a cornice. The basement openings are now blocked, and there are end stacks. Above the porch, the first-floor balcony features a double-heart-and-anthemion balustrade.

The interior has not been inspected. The railings attached to the porches have stick balusters with lancet and anthemion finials. Brunswick Street was marked out in 1818 and the houses were completed by 1828.
