Description

Numbers 19 and 21 are a pair of houses with attached railings, built in the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. They are constructed from pinkish-brown brick and feature a concealed roof along with a cast-iron balcony and railings.

The exterior consists of three storeys with a basement and four first-floor windows. On the first floor, there are plate-glass French windows with divided overlights set in plain reveals. The second floor features 1/1 sash windows in plain reveals with sills. The building has a frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The ground floor includes a pair of central entrances with part-glazed, four-panel doors that have overlights and panelled reveals. To the left, there are canted bay windows with three 1/1 sashes, and to the right, a bay window with two 2/2 sashes flanked by 1/1 sashes, all separated by plain columns, frieze, and cornice. The basement has part-glazed and panelled doors, each with a 1/1 sash window that includes margin-lights in plain reveals. A continuous balcony on the first floor features a balustrade with a double-heart-and-anthemion motif from the Carron Company. The building has end stacks.

The interior has not been inspected. The railings and gates are adorned with decorative lancet finials and consist of two levels of rails, bars, and dog-bars. Russell Terrace was laid out around 1828 to 1836.
