Description

Numbers 8, 10, and 12, along with their attached railings, are a group of three houses built around 1820 to 1830, subsequently altered. They are located on the west side of George Street in Royal Leamington Spa. The houses are constructed of pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco frontages, and have Welsh slate roofs. They have three storeys and a basement.

The houses have a four-window range to the left and a two-window range to the right, with the house on the right being slightly shorter. The first floor has four eight-over-eight sash windows with horns and sills; the two windows on the right have six-over-six sashes, also with sills, set in tooled architraves. The second floor mirrors the first with four eight-over-eight sash windows with horns and sills, all within plain reveals. The ground floor features entrances at each end, with five- and six-panel doors and overlights containing glazing bars, set in reveals with architraves including tooled pilaster strips, a frieze, and a cornice. The ground-floor windows are eight-over-eight sashes; those to the left have horns in plain reveals and sills, while the window on the right is set in a tooled architrave. The basement contains casement windows. A cornice runs along the top, with a blocking course to the right, and central and end stacks with cornices.

The interior was not inspected during listing.

The area railings have spear-head finials. The buildings form an architectural group with numbers 2, 4 and 6, and 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13 George Street.
