Description
A terrace of three houses located on George Street, built around 1830 to 1840, with later additions and alterations. The houses are constructed of pinkish-brown brick with a painted stucco front facade, and have a Welsh slate roof. They are designed in a single Classical style, featuring full-height Tuscan pilasters with recessed panels at the ends and between the windows.
The houses are two storeys high with attics, and have five first-floor windows arranged in a 2-2-1 pattern. The first floor windows consist of two 3/6 sashes, two 2/2 sashes, and one 3/6 sash, all with plain reveals and sills.
The ground floor entrances are located below the second, fourth, and fifth first-floor windows. Each entrance has three steps leading to a part-glazed, part-panelled door. The doorcases include fielded pilasters, a frieze, and a pediment; the doorcase at number 13 is similar, but the original pediment which extended across number 11 has been replaced by a Gothic porch. The ground floor has bay windows. Numbers 9 and 13 have a 2/2 sash window between two 1/1 sash windows in their bays, while the other bay windows have three 1/1 sashes, a dentil cornice, and fielded panels below. There is a frieze, cornice, and a low parapet. Skylights are also present. The end and ridge stacks are prominent, and raised ridges run between each house.
Inside number 9, the staircase features stick balusters.
