Description
Nos 1 and 1A Regent Street are a house, and later a house and shop, dating from approximately 1818 to 1830. The building has undergone later additions and alterations, including shop fronts from the late 19th and mid-20th centuries. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with a painted stucco front façade, and has a Welsh slate roof. The house is three storeys high, with a basement, and features three windows on the first floor. The first floor has a central blind opening flanked by 6/6 sash windows. The second floor also has 6/6 sash windows, all in plain reveals with sills. The ground floor has two recessed, partly glazed doors with overlights; a 20th-century plate-glass shop front is to the left and a 2/2 sash window is to the right. Some remnants of a continuous frieze and cornice remain, likely from a previous shop front. The basement has a pair of fixed-light windows. A parapet runs along the gables and between the houses, supported by corbels. The left gable features a 6/6 sash window. The interior has not been inspected.
