Description
Number 32 is a house dating from 1828 to 1834, with later alterations. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick, has a concealed roof, and includes cast-iron railings. The house is three storeys high with two windows on the first floor. A first-floor band is interrupted by window supports in the form of Tuscan pilasters at each end. The first floor has two 12-pane French windows with plain reveals. Above this is a double frieze and cornice. The second floor features two 3/6 sashes with sills and plain reveals, topped by a low parapet with copings. The ground floor entrance is approached by three roll-edged steps leading to a three-panel door. The lower panel of the door is roll-moulded, with a divided overlight and fielded-panel reveals. The doorcase consists of fielded pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. A 1/1 sash window is located to the side of the door, with a sill and plain reveals. The basement includes a part-glazed door and a 4/8 sash window. The interior was not inspected. The area railings and gate have bars with lozenge finials. Grove Street was laid out in 1828, with the west side and lower part of the east side completed by 1834. Number 32 forms part of a wider architectural group that includes numbers 14 to 46 (even) Grove Street, and number 5 Regent Street.
