Description
No. 1 and 1A Stonegate is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the mid-19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of orange-grey brick in Flemish bond, featuring a timber cornice, a slate roof, and a brick chimney stack.
The exterior showcases a three-storey facade with three windows. The shopfront is framed by plain pilasters and is topped with a moulded and dentilled cornice supported by grooved brackets. To the right of the centre is a recessed glazed and panelled shop door, while a six-panel door is located to the left of the plate glass windows, which are bordered in coloured glass. Both doors and windows include overlights and clerestories with lozenge glazing bars. The first and second floor windows are 12-pane sashes with slender glazing bars, flat brick arches above, and a stone sill band for the second-floor windows. The building is capped with a heavy modillioned eaves cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
