GV II*

House and shop; now shop and hairdressing salon. Early C17 with later alterations. Timber-framed with incised stucco front; plain tile roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and attic; 1-window gabled front, with jettied first and second floors. 3-light small-pane shop window framed in sunk-panelled pilasters has margin-glazed and panelled door to left: similar upstairs door to right, both having patterned fanlights. First floor has 3-light canted bay window with 12-pane sashes. Second floor and attic windows are tripartite with 12-pane centre sashes. INTERIOR: timber-framing is visible on second floor. Second floor front room has blocked bolection moulded fireplace. Similar fireplace from first floor room said to be stored in attic. (City of York: RCHME: The Central Area: HMSO: 1981-: 221).
