Description
Nos 2 and 2A Ropergate is a house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of brown brick in English garden wall bond and has a Welsh slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has three bays.
On the ground floor, there are two 20th-century shop fronts, which are not considered of special interest. The first floor features four sash windows set on a deep sill band; two of these windows are closely spaced on the left, with the left-hand one possibly being an insertion. The second floor has half-size windows on a sill band, with the central window being a 6-pane sash, the left window boarded, and the right window a fixed single sheet of glass. All windows are topped with voussoired wedge lintels that have fluted dropped keystones. The building also has paired gutter brackets and a ridge stack located between the second and third first-floor windows.
