Description

Smithy Cottage is a mid 18th century cottage, likely raised slightly in the late 18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a thatched roof with a brick end stack. The cottage has a two-unit plan and is two storeys high, with a two-window range. The entrance is located at the rear. On the ground floor, there is a leaded single light window and two three-light casements, all with blackened wood lintels. The window on the right has a much larger and rougher lintel above it. The first floor contains a four-light and a two-light casement, with horizontal glazing bars throughout. There is a small 20th century single-storey addition on the left. The interior has not been inspected. Smithy Cottage adjoins the Smithy.
