Description

This is a semi-detached cottage located on the south side of Lighthorne Post Office Lane. It dates to 1662, though it was altered or partly rebuilt in the late 18th century. The cottage is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a thatched roof and brick end stacks, the right-hand stack being a product of the 19th or 20th century. The original plan comprised two units. It is a single storey with an attic, featuring a two-window facade. A central flush six-panelled door is covered by a simple pitched hood supported on shaped brackets. The windows are 2-light leaded casements, all with painted wood lintels. Dormers in the roof have glazed apexes and tile roofs, with tiles running down below. The date "1662" is incised on the front wall. A 20th-century one-bay addition extends to the right. The interior, which has not been inspected, is reportedly characterized by an open fireplace.
