Description
Charlotte Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the mid to late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and an extension added in the 20th century. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with a front made of brick in English bond that has been painted white. It features a thatched roof and brick stacks at either end. The cottage has a two-unit plan and is one storey high with an attic, displaying a two-window range.
The entrance is a plank door located slightly to the right of the center, topped with a chamfered wood lintel. There are three-light leaded casement windows on both the ground and first floors, also with wood lintels. The window on the first floor is set in an eyebrow dormer and contains some old glass. A rendered plinth supports the structure. At the rear, there is a single-storey extension from the 20th century.
Inside, the cottage features spine beams and an open fireplace with a bressumer.
