Description
Curacy Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of regularly coursed limestone and features a slate roof, while the rear wing has old tiles and brick stacks at the ridge and right end. The building is designed in an L-plan, with the wing located to the rear on the left side. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has a three-window range.
The entrance, positioned between the second and third bays, features a part-glazed flush six-panelled door with panelled reveals and a moulded wood surround. A painted chamfered woodwork open porch from the mid to late 19th century includes a finial. The windows are 19th-century casements with horizontal glazing bars, consisting of three lights on the ground floor and two lights above, all framed with moulded cement surrounds. The return sides of the building have small leaded attic windows. At the rear, there is a two-window range with a lean-to in the angle, and the two-window wing includes a plank door and a three-light casement with horizontal glazing bars, as well as two-light first-floor windows featuring cross glazing.
Inside, the partitioned hall contains an open fireplace with an old bressumer and a 19th-century segmental-arched wood surround. There are also 19th-century moulded six-panelled doors and boxed beams. The kitchen has a blocked open fireplace and an ogee stop-chamfered beam. The rear wing features several three-plank doors with strap hinges.
