Description

The Thatched Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage located on Steels Lane in Cherington. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a thatched roof with brick end stacks. The cottage has a two-unit plan and consists of one storey plus an attic. The front has a two-window range with 19th-century three-light casements that have chamfered wood lintels. There is also a 19th-century eyebrow dormer. The doors, which are from the 20th century, are made of planks and have old wood lintels with iron gabled hoods, positioned to the left and centre-right. The rear and gable end include additional 19th and 20th-century casements. Inside, the cottage has spine beams and a large open fireplace with a chamfered timber bressumer.
