Description

The Manor House is a manor house dating from around 1835. The west front is constructed of coursed squared ironstone, while the garden front is ashlar. It has a tile double-span roof with coped gable parapets and ashlar end stacks. The building is arranged over three storeys and follows a double-depth plan. It is of a late Georgian style, presenting a four-window range to the entrance front. A high plinth is visible, with one window blocked. The entrance is in the first bay and features a moulded six-panelled door with an overlight, set within a painted wooden doorcase with fluted strips, Tuscan pilasters, and an entablature. A flight of eight steps with an iron handrail leads to the door. Horned sashes are present throughout. The lower second floor has six-pane sashes. The fourth bay projects slightly, featuring a 20-pane sash on the ground floor, a 16-pane sash on the first, and an 8-pane sash on the second. This projecting bay has a flat roof, and stone flat arches are found throughout the building. False louvred shutters are also present. The fine garden front presents a five-window range with a central French window with glazing bars and an overlight featuring decorative glazing, within a stone doorcase of Tuscan pilasters and an entablature. The ground floor has 20-pane sashes, the first floor has 16-pane sashes, and the second floor has 8-pane sashes, all set beneath stone wedge lintels with key blocks. The interior was noted to have panelled shutters, though it has not been inspected.
