Description

West View House is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with additions made in the early to mid 19th century and again in the late 19th century. The main part of the house is constructed of regular coursed ironstone; the left-hand range has red brick to its return and rear sides. The roof is thatched, while the additions have tile roofs, with some fish-scale tiles to the left range. There are brick ridge and end stacks. The house has an L-plan that extends to a T-plan, with a wing at the rear. It is two storeys high and has a two-window front. The central door of the 18th-century range is recessed and has a 20th-century shaped panelled door under a segmental arch. There are three-light casement windows with glazing bars. The left range has a 20th-century three-light casement, and the right range has a large four-light 20th-century casement with glazing bars. All windows have painted wood lintels. The right return side features a flush six-panelled stable door with a painted chamfered wood lintel. The rear of the house is irregular. On the ground floor, the windows have fielded panelled shutters.
