Description
High House is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with possibly earlier origins. It is constructed from regular coursed ironstone with limestone ashlar dressings. The tile roof features coped gable parapets with moulded kneelers and has 19th-century brick end stacks. The house has a central staircase plan and stands three storeys high with a basement, displaying a three-window range. The basement includes a stone mullioned window on the right. There is a flight of moulded stone steps leading to a 20th-century part-glazed ribbed door, which is framed by a moulded stone architrave and cornice. The windows are sashes with thick frames, and the second floor features 6-pane centre-hung sashes with wide moulded eared architraves. The central oval windows are adorned with wide moulded surrounds. The interior has not been inspected.
