Description

Westover Farmhouse and the attached barn are a farmhouse and barn dating from the early to mid-18th century, with a left-side addition from the early to mid-19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features a 20th-century tile roof with a moulded kneeler on the left. A large central stone ridge stack has a 20th-century brick shaft, and the addition has an end stack. The structure has a 3-unit plan with a cross-wing on the right, standing two storeys tall with an attic. It has a five-window range, with the addition featuring one window. The central entrance is a moulded six-panelled door beneath a moulded wood lintel, and the open porch is supported by slender turned wood columns and has a depressed half-dome hood. The windows include leaded cross windows and 3-light wood mullioned and transomed windows in the second bay, with painted wood lintels. The cross gable on the right has a 3-light leaded oval casement, while the lower addition on the left features a 4-light casement with horizontal glazing bars and a 2-light casement above. The rear of the building is irregular. The barn is attached at right angles on the left side at the rear and is now partly incorporated into the house. It has a corrugated iron roof and consists of three bays, with central low double doors and a late 20th-century casement window inserted to the right. The interior of both the farmhouse and barn has not been inspected.
