Description
Barton House is a manor house dating to the late 17th century, restored in the 20th century. It is constructed of ashlar with a limestone slate roof, and has ashlar stacks. The building is rectangular, with a small porch attached to the centre of the right-hand wall. The garden front is symmetrical. The house has two storeys and an attic, with attic windows being 2-light casements. There are seven windows across the front. Five 12-pane sashes with thick glazing bars are present. The central upper storey has three sashes with moulded architraves. To either side of this section are two stone-mullioned cross windows with stopped hoods and leaded panes. A glazed door is centrally positioned, flanked by pilasters with a triangular pediment above. Large casements with moulded architraves and glazing bars forming octagons mirror the glazing in the front door on either side. Two stone-mullioned cross windows are located to the right of the front door, and two sashes with stopped hoods to the left. The roof has two hips at the rear. Two tall stacks rise just above the eaves, towards the centre of the front elevation. The interior has not been inspected.
