Description
The Coach House and attached barn, formerly listed under Barton Farmhouse, is a barn and former tallet that has been converted for domestic use. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with a limestone slate roof and a 20th-century ashlar stack.
The rectangular barn features a central projecting gabled porch, with an outshut to the right and the former tallet projecting forward to the left of the porch. It is a single-storey structure with double doors leading to the central porch and smaller double doors on the opposite side. Pigeon holes are located towards the apex of the porch gable. There is a central stable door to the outshut, flanked by single light casements. Steps lead up to the gable end of the former tallet, which includes a kennel at the base. A 20th-century glazed door is flanked by single light windows, and there is another 20th-century glazed door with a single light window on the left side of the right-hand wall. All windows are 20th-century plate glass casements.
Inside, the barn has five bays with original collar and tie roof trusses.
